金义都市新区位于浙江中部，地处长三角经济圈和海西协作区交汇点。根据国务院批准的《浙江省城镇体系规划（2010-2020）》，新区未来将与金华和义乌市区共同形成浙中城市群核心区，成为浙江省第四大都市区，和带动浙江中西部地区经济社会发展的重要增长极。
　　Jinyi New Urban District is seated in the middle of Zhejiang Province and on the intersection of the Yangtze Delta Economic Circle and Haixi Economic Cooperation zone. According to “Zhejiang Urban System Planning (2010-2020)” approved by the State Council,Jinyi New Urban District combined with Jinhua city proper and Yiwu city proper is going to form the core area of Zhejiang province as an important growth pole to promote the economic and social development of Midwest zhejiang.

　

　　新区近期规划面积50平方公里，远期规划面积275平方公里，未来的金义都市区（包括金华和义乌市区）将建成300万-500万人口规模的城市。
　　Jinyi New District plans to develop an area of 50 square kilometers in the near future and preliminarily 275 square kilometers in the long term. In the future, Jin-Yi urban District which includes Jinhua city proper and Yiwu city proper will be built into a city with a population of 3 to 5 million.
